SILVER
SILVER
A complex minty-smoky amber featuring fossilized amber (pine resin) with a secret floral heart. Literally millions of years in the making and definitely worth the wait, this dry and distinctive, primal amber has facets of mint, saro, African helichrysum, lavender, thyme, green peppercorn, blue water lily, myrrh, styrax, patchouli, vetiverol, pine moss, sandalwood, fossil amber and ambergris. Primal yet comfortable with good diffusion and a tranquil heart, it bears little resemblance to most men’s colognes and can easily be worn by anyone who enjoys bold but light-bodied fragrances.
Note: “amber” in fragrance is usually a sweet-balsamic fantasy note. This isn’t that kind of an amber. Overspraying is recommended to get the full effect in the drydown.
Silver was a finalist for Basenotes 2021 artisanal fragrance of the year. There’s now another minty-pepper-floral-fossil amber-myrrh fragrance that sells for 6x the price and features a similar description, including the word “primal’ - and has “million year” in the title. Whether or not that’s a coincidence, this has become the original of the minty fossil amber genre and there’s still nothing like the real thing.
“Silver is a composition built around an extract of fossilized amber (pine resin), and it's a thrillingly peculiar, ethereal creation that nevertheless remains quite wearable.
”It opens with a blast of rich, nuanced mint before moving into an enigmatic, intoxicating floral-ambergris feeling with a bit of dry smokiness. This isn't classic French perfumery in structure, it feels organic and alive in the best sense.
”I'm quite content to rank this among the best indie releases I've encountered.” - Brooks Otterlake, Basenotes
Ryan talks about SILVER at 9:50 in this video
“Silver is an exceptional "incense-plus" fragrance, its various common and exotic notes impeccably balanced into a woody-grassy-reinsous-herbal whole. There's nothing to wrestle with: It smells like nothing else, and I want it to smell exactly as it does.”
