Combining the absolute best qualities of instantaneous death by nerve agent with a dry, bitter-powdery cocoa accord and chocolate-almond tort, with some chocolate liqueur thrown in for good measure, Novochoc is a radical departure from previous releases while also keeping with the Clandestine aesthetic and approach to creating fragrances that are original yet comfortably wearable and, eventually, familiar and uniquely comforting. This one is a bit stronger than others and definitely won’t be mistaken for how you actually smell, unless you’re super chocolatey-foxy. It’s not shy, though it is fairly naturalistic and strangely subtle considering the incredible diffusion. Happily it’s not sweet or cloying, smells great up close on skin - and the drydown is to die for.
Notes include cocoa powder, chocolate-almond tort, rose, jasmine, opoponax, cinnamon, tonka bean, Peru balsam and musk Tonkin. Performance is killer, but doesn’t hit you over the head. Wearability is in line with our other fragrances, assuming you don’t overspray and enjoy chocolate, sex, and potentially knocking people dead with your dark powers. Surprisingly good in hot weather.
“This is a beautiful and delicious take on chocolate, rose, and what I perceive to be sensual animalics. It definitely makes a powerful and bold statement that exudes confidence, sexuality and seduction. What I get at first is a velvety, well composed authentic milk chocolate powder, sort of like the chocolate from an artisanal bakery. Imagine biting into a multi tier chocolate mille-feuille, with each layer filled with assorted ganache chocolate cream. Right next to this, I get a custardy chocolate that’s filled with creamy almond butter, with powdery touches. Then comes this rose, the rose adds such a beautiful and complex dimension. I wouldn’t say that this is a jammy rose where it can be too sweet, its a green earthy rose, where if you were take a deep whiff, it almost feels narcotic. I also get the “green-ness” from the stem of the rose. Imagine snipping a piece of the stem and a few rose petals, then mashing them in a mortar until it turned to a muddled consistency. The earthy, moist, floral smell is what I get along with the delicious chocolate. As it dries, this is where the seductive part makes an entrance…the musk tonkin along with the slightly indolic jasmine provides a slightly skanky, animalic, heated sweaty flesh aroma with something a little resinous.
